The Philippines’ own beauty event closed its doors in Manila at the end of last week, following an expanded roll out that included a number of new additions this year.

The first Philbeauty event took place at the SMX Convention Center in the nation’s capital, Manila, and included over 100 exhibiting companies representing 22 countries and regions that were showcasing beauty products and services.

The event, which is organized by UBM ASEAN, took place from June 18th – 20th and featured many businesses from the Philippines, as well as major trading partners such as Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Italy, Japan, Indian and China.

Focusing on business opportunities in the Philippines

"UBM's focus has always been to meet and exceed the expectations of our exhibitors and buyers and deliver the best organised show possible,” said M Gandhi, managing director UBM ASEAN.

“We are very proud to be serving the Philippines beauty industry and with such strong interest from international companies this clearly demonstrated that the Philippines have many business opportunities. Philbeauty is the perfect platform for buyers and suppliers to interact in a focused environment and form new relationships."

The event was billed as a one stop opportunity for industry suppliers and manufacturers, and included the Philbeauty Conference, which targeted industry professionals with a series of dedicated presentations.

Conference programme topics

Topics for the conference segment included "The Notification Process of Cosmetics with the Food and Drug Administration" and "Practical tips for Successful Importation of Cosmetic Products into the Philippines."

The event also included live product demonstrations, which including hair and make-up application techniques led by celebrity stylist Mader Ricky Reyes, which the organizer said led to big crowds on the showfloor.

Philbeauty was also supported by the Chamber of Cosmetics Industry of the Philippines (CCIP), the Filipino Hairdressers Cooperative, the Thai Cosmetic Manufacturers Association and the Spa & Wellness Association.
